When You Write Ghost Stories You End Up Cemeteries

img_2154As I stood in the middle of the cemetery my cell phone rang. My mom.  Me: Hello!
Mom: Hey. What are you guys up to?
Me: We’re walking around a cemetery.
Mom: Oh, okay. (pause)
Mom: I say that as if it’s so normal.
Andrea: I noticed.

Although now that I think about it, even before we started writing the Onyx Webb series, we have enjoyed meandering through cemeteries. The older the better. Maybe that’s why we gravitated towards writing a ghost story in the first place?

We even visited the Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah when we were there for Christmas and we dragged my Mom along with us. Luckily, she enjoyed it as much as we did because the reality is, it is one of the most beautiful and historical cemeteries we have ever visited.

So do we see ghosts? Well, for one we are not looking. That said, according to Amanda Linette Meder (a psychic medium) on her fascinating blog (Q & A: Do ghosts hang out cemeteries?) Deceased people are people. They enjoy the company of other people.”

So make no mistake, we are not ghost hunting… for us, it’s about the beauty, the history, and the peace and quiet we find at these places. We’ll stick to our imaginations when it comes to bringing out the spirits.
